FIELD: technological processes.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the treatment of metals by pressure and can be used for the manufacture of wire. Method comprises sequentially pulling a circular deformable preform through a non-driven roller coil, in which an intermediate profile is formed, having the shape of an unexecuted square, and further drawing the obtained profile through a monolithic wire in which the wire receives a circular cross-section. Both operations are performed in one pass due to the pulling force applied to the front end.

EFFECT: method ensures the decomposition of the total deformation per pass into two parts having different stress state schemes, which allows to control the stress-strain state in the deformation zone, thereby increasing the deformability and ductility of the metal.
