FIELD: aerodynamics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to experimental aerodynamics and can be used primarily in wind tunnels of large subsonic velocities for a more detailed study of the flow pattern of wing profile models. Method includes lighting the region of flow around the model of the wing profile along its span by a parallel light beam and recording the shadow pattern after passing the light beam through the investigated area using a shadow instrument. In this case, additional registration and inversion of the shadow pattern are carried out in the absence of a flow; after which a shadow picture is superimposed on the detected shadow picture in the presence of a stream in the absence of a flow.
EFFECT: invention can be used for a more detailed study of the flow pattern of wing profile models.
