SUBSTANCE: invention relates to pipe-making and can be used on piercing mills for rolling blanks on water-cooled mandrels. Mandrel assembly of screw rolling mill includes a hollow mandrel made with a variable profile fixed to the hollow tip with a retaining cone and a tube for supplying the cooling medium into the mandrel. On the retaining cone of the tip, along the circumference, there are grooves, the length of which is less than the length of the segment of the retaining cone. In each groove, through holes are made in the segment of the retaining cone having a larger diameter.

EFFECT: increase in the wear resistance of the mandrels and improvement of the quality of the inner surface of pipes.
