FIELD: engines.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the purification of internal combustion engine exhaust gases. Carrier is located in the metal casing of the catalytic converter of exhaust gases, to which a cylindrical inlet conduit is connected, contains an internal part of the catalytic zone, an outer part of the catalytic zone and an insulating material, which provides the thermal separation of these zones. Insulation passes through the carrier and has a constant cross-section, essentially formed by the intersection of two imaginary cylinders with an upstream external surface of the wearer. Each imaginary cylinder has a nominal diameter that is from 1.08 to 1.20 of the diameter of the inlet pipeline; a thickness of 1-4 mm and an axis that coincides with the direction of movement of the gas at the point with the maximum flow velocity in the cross section at the junction of the inlet pipeline and the metal casing. One of these cylinders is connected to the gas flow at the lower limit of the working interval, and the other of these cylinders is connected with the gas flow at the upper limit of the working interval.
EFFECT: when using the invention, a minimum backpressure in the inlet conduit is provided.
