FIELD: mechanical engineering; internal combustion engines. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to devices for cleaning and neutralizing exhaust gases of internal combustion engines by catalytic conversion of toxic components. Proposed catalytic converter differs in design of catalytic reactors. It has housing with catalytic unit. Longitudinal channels of unit are formed by corrugated and smooth bands whose starting ends are welded to each other and to rod. Bands are wound in spiral around rod placed along axis of housing and are fixed in housing by pin. Inner end of pin is pointed at axis. Bridge secured on housing end face is connected with rod. EFFECT: enhanced reliability and efficiency of operation, reduced overall dimensions of catalytic converter, simplified design and reduced labour input in manufacture. 5 cl, 4 dwg
