FIELD: radiobiology.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to radiobiology, to measuring the 90Sr radionuclide activity for radiation monitoring of professional workers in the nuclear industry. Method of monitoring strontium-90 radionuclides in biological samples by the radiometric method includes a preliminary preparation of the sample with its treatment with nitric acid and an adjustment of its content to a fixed value, isolation of strontium radionuclides from the solution by its treatment with a solution of dicyclohexyl-18-crown-6, preparation of a counting sample and radiometric measurement. In the radiometric measurement, an aluminum absorber is placed between the counting sample and the detector in order to measure the state of the beta-particle spectrum of the yttrium-90 daughter radionuclide. To determine the activity of the strontium-90 radionuclide, calibration is carried out by preparing the counting samples prepared on the basis of biological samples of analogues and reference solutions of strontium-90 and yttrium-90 in secular equilibrium, and measurement is performed of counting rates from the counting samples by means of the aluminum absorber located between the counting sample and the detector.

EFFECT: invention allows to determine the activities of 90Sr by the activity of 90Y – 90Sr daughter product in a counting sample by the radiometric method without disrupting the secular equilibrium of the 90Sr – 90Y activities.
