SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of determining activity of radionuclides of technogenic origin. Disclosed is a method for determining activity of strontium and barium radionuclides in samples of the environment and filter material, wherein determination of activity of radionuclides of strontium-89.90 and barium-140 in collected samples of filtering material is carried out in the following sequence of operations: separating the sorbent surface from the gauze base, adding strontium and barium carriers, ashing the fabric in a muffle furnace, leaching strontium and barium radionuclides with nitric acid in the presence of hydroperite while heating, separating the solid and liquid phases by filtration or centrifugation, evaporating the solution to wet salts and dissolving the obtained residue in 4 H nitric acid, filtering the obtained solution through a chromatographic column, eluted strontium and barium radionuclides with their carriers are eluted with hot water, separated by a chromate method, for which barium chromate is precipitated from the solution, filtered from the solution containing strontium, then strontium carbonate is deposited, time is recorded to take into account accumulation of yttrium during decay of strontium, coefficients of chemical yield of strontium and barium by carriers are calculated, precipitates are dissolved in nitric acid and preparing counting samples by mixing with a scintillation cocktail, then measuring on a liquid scintillation radiometer and calculating the activity of the separated strontium-89.90 and barium-140 radionuclides.
EFFECT: invention increases chemical yield of radionuclides during radiochemical sample preparation (up to 90 %).
