FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy, in particular to the electrothermal production of technical silicon. Mixture for the production of technical silicon includes quartzite, charcoal, petroleum coke, coal and wood chips, and further comprises a briquette of brown coal semi-coke that has been pre-cleaned of iron oxides, with the following proportion of the mixture components, wt%: quartzite 53.4–55.2; charcoal 4.7–5.1; petroleum coke 3.3–3.7; coal 9.2–19.4; brown coal semi-coke briquettes 5.1–15.2; wood chips 13.2–13.6.
EFFECT: use of a brown coal semi-coke briquette that has been purified from iron oxides in the mixture reduces the consumption of low-ash coal and improves the quality of silicon by reducing the iron content in silicon.
