FIELD: instrument making.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the construction of SO2 into SO3 catalytic oxidation contact devices. Objective of the invention is improvement of the contact device design reliability. Contact device consists of a shell, a central support tower, several shelves for loading a catalyst onto them and several sealed partition walls between them. Each shelf of the contact device consists of several curved-type cable-stayed plates. Plates are welded in to the shell and the central tower by opposite edges, connected to each other by movable brackets or a continuous weld. From the outside along the perimeters of the shell and the central support tower, in front of the curved type cable-stayed plates welding zones, preventing deformation shroud stiffening rings are welded in by a continuous seam. All curved type cable-stayed plates tensile stresses will be taken by the shell and the central support tower, reinforced with overlaying of the shroud stiffening rings.

EFFECT: as a result, deformation of the shell and the central support tower of the contact device in these zones is prevented, which increases its design reliability, eliminates technological failures during its operation.
