SUBSTANCE: inventions can be used in animal feeding. Method for increasing the level of hydration of a cat's organism (embodiments) and a food composition for cats are proposed. Methods comprises providing the cat with a diet that includes an appetizing and dietically fortified cat food composition and water or an additive. Composition contains arachidonic and eicosapentaenoic acid in a ratio of 3:1 or more; the ratio based on the dry weight of omega-6 to omega-3 fatty acids in the composition is from 10:1 to less than 20:1.
EFFECT: inventions provide a reduced risk of developing urolithiasis, idiopathic cystitis of the cat or FLUTD.
