SUBSTANCE: invention relates to automatics and telemechanics in railway transport to monitor busy status of railway track section. In the method for monitoring free or occupied state of railway track section at distances and stations, signal taken from magnetic sensor while passing current collector of electric train located near contact wire of supply contact network at the beginning of block section is used as information about arrival of electric train to block section.

EFFECT: increase in reliability of monitoring busy state / free path are achieved.
