FIELD: technological processes.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for applying an aqueous treating solution on steel strip (1) surface moving with a predetermined speed in a certain direction. Method comprises steps of drying the moving steel strip with a gas stream, applying said aqueous solution to at least one surface of the steel strip with a rotary sprayer, having a plurality of spraying rotors transversely arranged to the direction of strip travel, to which the aqueous treatment solution is supplied, and which are rotated by a drive, in order to spray the treatment solution in the form of an aerosol jet on the surface of the steel strip under the action of a centrifugal force to form a wet film of the treatment aqueous solution on said strip, homogenising the applied wet film of the aqueous treatment solution by means of driven calendar rolls, drying the applied wet film of the aqueous treatment solution. Invention further relates to an apparatus for performing the method.

EFFECT: use of the present invention avoids the problem of aging of the treatment solution and is applicable at high strip speeds.
