SUBSTANCE: ocular device configured to be positioned on a surface of the eye underneath at least one of the upper and lower eyelids and outside a cornea of the eye for delivering a therapeutic agent to an eye for an extended period of time. Device comprises a thin, elongated monofilament-shaped first structure formed from a first material; a second structure formed from a second material that has a tubular structure formed from a first tubular body structure and a second tubular body structure, such that said first structure passes through a lumen passing through said first and second tubular body structures. First terminal end of the first tubular body structure abuts the second terminal end of the second tubular body structure. Second material is different from the first material. Therapeutic agent is dispersed in one of the first material of the first structure or the second material of the second structure. Second structure has one or more grooves formed on the outer surface of the tubular structure.

EFFECT: grooves extend parallel to the longitudinal axis of the tubular structure and provide a cross-sectional shape for the tubular structure when the cross-section is taken along the longitudinal axis.
