FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to powder metallurgy, in particular to the manufacturing of electrotechnical products from powder compositions based on carbon with the novolak phenol-formaldehyde resin. It can be used for making brushes of the electric machines, contact inserts of current collectors for urban and railway transport. Powder composition is prepared by means of grinding the graphite powder and the formaldehyde resin, followed by mixing. Prepared composition is kept for 4÷6 hours at the temperature of 70÷90 °C and then pressed.
EFFECT: absence of the mixture adherence to the matrix walls when pressed is ensured.
