SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the generation of two-dimensional information codes (100). In the area of the information code are formed a specific pattern area in which are disposed specific patterns (104) of predetermined shape, such as position detection patterns, a data recording area in which data is recorded by a plurality of types of cells (102), and an error correcting code recording area in which an error correcting code is recorded by the plurality of types of cells (102). In the code area, free area (110) is formed at a position outside the specific pattern area, the data recording area and the error correcting code recording area. Data is not recorded by cells in the free area, and error correction with respect to error correcting codes is not applied to the free area. Free area has a size larger than one cell (102).
EFFECT: technical result is a wider range of means for generating information codes.
