FIELD: metallurgy.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to non-ferrous metallurgy, in particular to the process of sawing grooves in baked carbon anodes used in the electrolytic production of aluminum, namely a device with cutting segments and a method for processing baked carbon anodes. Cutting segments directed alternately to the left and right are located on the sawing disks at the same distance between each other. Each segment has its own attachment to the sawing disk, which allows to change them individually. Cutting plates of segments are made of polycrystalline diamond, providing the longest service life of each segment and the maximum productivity of sawing machines. Cutting plates of the segments can have a different shape of the top, rounded or rectangular, and they overlap the entire section of the cutting segment housing along the sides. When using the claimed cutting segment on the processing devices for baked carbon anodes, the service life of the cutting segments is extended by the use of optimum working angles of the cutting plate and the shape of the upper part of the cutting segment, reducing friction and wear, and also by allowing the replacement of a separate damaged or worn out cutting segment to avoid accelerated wear of serviceable segments. Method of processing anodes with a change in the rotational speed of the disks from 40 to 90 rpm provides regulating the feed rate of the anode within the range of 20–80 mm/s, depending on the degree of fineness of the cutting edges of the segments. Selection of rotation speed and feed rate is made by selecting the optimal thickness of the baked anode to be cut by one cutting segment within 0.2–1.0 mm.

EFFECT: device for processing baked anodes with a cutting segment is proposed.
