FIELD: biochemistry.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a process for producing latexes based on a polyester resin by emulsification with phase inversion. Process for the preparation of latex (versions) is described, comprising dissolving a polyester resin in an organic solvent to form a solution, the polyester resin having a latex destabilising cation which is a monovalent cation, a divalent cation or combinations thereof, and a latex destabilising cation exists in the insoluble fraction of the solution, and further an insoluble fraction is formed after a delay period in the range of 2 to 96 hours following the dissolution step; removal of the latex destabilising cation, where the removal of the latex destabilising cation involves filtration, decanting, centrifugation or combinations thereof after a delay period; neutralisation of the solution of polyester resin; adding sufficient water to the neutralised solution to form an emulsion and to remove a portion of the organic solvent from the emulsion to form a polyester resin latex.
EFFECT: technical result is the formation of stable latex.
