FIELD: radio engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to radio engineering and, more particularly, to a high-frequency (HF) device based on liquid crystals (LC). According to the invention, HF device comprises a parallel arranged signal and earth electrode, and LC layer located between them. In one embodiment, HF device also comprises an additional layer of dielectric material located between the ground and signal electrodes and having a dielectric constant that is much larger than that of the LC layer. In another embodiment, the signal and ground electrodes are divided into separate segments, the HF device also comprising distribution electrodes at each end of each of the segmented electrodes, the distance between the respective segmented electrodes and the distribution electrodes, their dimensions and dielectric material between them are selected so as not to shunt the capacitance between the segments. At the ends of the HF device, lateral electrodes can also be located to apply the tangential field. It can be used in a printed circuit board and in an asymmetrical or symmetrical strip line.
EFFECT: technical result is to provide small losses with a short switching time of the LC element.
