FIELD: measuring equipment.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for remote detection of alcohol vapors in the atmosphere, particularly advantageous for determining the concentration of alcohol vapors in a person's exhaled air, especially in places where it is forbidden to stay under the influence of alcohol and/or precautionally before boarding the car or as a test while driving, as well as to a device for detecting alcohol vapors in the atmosphere. Claimed method for the remote detection of alcohol vapors in the atmosphere, in particular, applicable for determining the concentration of ethanol vapor in a person's exhaled air, especially in the passenger compartment of the vehicle, includes the direction of the light beam through the investigated space, preferably from a laser light source whose wavelength corresponds to the spectrum absorption of alcohol in the middle infrared spectral region, measuring the intensity of light after passing a beam of light through said space and determination of the alcohol vapor concentration based on spectral analysis of the relationship between light intensity and alcohol level. In this case, the wavelength of the laser light source is tuned to a range comprising an absorption peak of ethanol, preferably at 3.345 mcm or 3.447 mcm or 7.174 mcm or 8.057 mcm or 9.377 mcm or 11.372 mcm, and partially and/or completely including the ethanol uptake plateau, preferably located in the immediate vicinity of the absorption peak, in order to correctly quantify the alcohol content of the vapors.
EFFECT: technical result is the ability to determine the trace amounts of alcohol vapor in the exhaled air, in particular remote sensing, without the need to interrupt current actions.
