SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to video encoding / decoding technologies. Disclosed is a method for encoding video for a computing device with a video encoder or an image encoder. Method comprises a step of encoding video in a sequence, including switching colour spaces spatially and/or temporally between at least some units of the video within the sequence during the encoding, wherein the colour spaces include an RGB colour space and a YCoCg colour space, wherein the encoding comprises prediction of sample values of a current unit of the video based at least in part on sample values of previously reconstructed content. Further, the method comprises outputting encoded data in a bitstream, the encoded data including one or more signals indicating how the colour spaces switch between at least some units of the video within the sequence.
EFFECT: technical result is to improve the efficiency of video encoding/decoding.
