SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the modulation and coding scheme selecting and configuring devices. User equipment (UE) comprises: a table component configured to support two or more tables, each of which contains entries for a plurality of available modulation schemes, at that, two or more tables contain default table and secondary table in which the default table and the secondary table contain the agreed number of entries, and in which the secondary table contains a record corresponding to the 256-quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) scheme; table selection component configured to select a chosen table from one of the default table and the secondary table; and a communication component configured to receive and process messages from the Node B (eNB) of the Advanced Universal Radio Access Network (E-UTRAN) based on the modulation scheme and coding of the selected table; at that, the table selection component is configured to select a table, at least partially, in response to the UE receiving one or more of a radio resource control (RRC) messages or a medium access control (MAC) message indicating the selected table.
EFFECT: technical result is in enabling of the ability to receive and process messages.
