FIELD: biotechnology.

SUBSTANCE: provided herein are recombinant hemagglutinin polypeptide (HA) of the influenza virus eliciting a reactive immune response against H3N2, nucleic acid molecule, its encoding, and an expression vector, a fusion protein and a virus-like particle (VLP) containing mentioned HA polypeptide, and an isolated cell for generating and expressing mentioned VLP, as well as a composition comprising mentioned polypeptide, VLP and fusion protein, and a method of eliciting an immune response against the H3N2 influenza virus. Proposed polypeptide comprises one of the amino acid sequences SEQ ID NO: 8, SEQ ID NO:9, SEQ ID NO:10 or SEQ ID NO:11 and is developed through by carrying out a series of alignments of HA protein sequences and subsequent generation of consensus sequences based on the H3N2 influenza viruses isolates.

EFFECT: proposed polypeptide elicits an immune response with a wide range of reactivity against H3N2 influenza virus isolates and can be used in medicine to elicit an immune response to the H3N2 influenza virus.
