FIELD: medical equipment.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medical equipment. A personal hand-held monitor (PHHM) for measuring the analyte concentration in blood contains a device for obtaining signals used to deduce analyte concentrations in the blood. Blood photosensor of the of the signal receiving device comprises photo-emitters for transmitting light to a part of the user's body, photodetectors for detecting light transmitted through or scattered by a part of the body, and two or more optical cells through which light is passed before it reaches the photodetectors. One of the cells contains a detectable analyte or mimics the absorption spectrum of the detectable analyte. PHHM processor is configured to calculate a light intensity difference that has passed through the analyte cell, and light that has passed through the cell without analyte, to determine the user's pulse and correlate signals from the photosensor with the pulse of the user. PHHM is configured to apply pressure to a part of the body or undergo a pressure applied to it by the body so that the artery in the body part changes from occluded to open during each pulse. PHHM processor is configured to output a measurement data from a change in the luminal area of the artery during each pulse and correlate the signals from the blood photosensor with the pulse and the change in the luminal area of the artery to measure the concentration of the analyte in the arterial blood.
EFFECT: increase in the accuracy of measurements is achieved.
