FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of analytical chemistry, namely to methods for identifying Ceylon, Chinese, Indonesian and Vietnamese cinnamon. To do this, samples of cinnamon are analyzed by isotope mass spectrometry, while the isotopic composition of carbon (δ13C), nitrogen (δ15N) and oxygen (δ18O). Obtained values of the isotope composition of carbon, nitrogen and oxygen are substituted into the functions F1–F4 previously calculated using the discriminant analysis, characterizing the form of cinnamon: the identification of cinnamon is carried out by selecting the maximum value of the discriminant function. F1 "Ceylon" = -2263.68-126.18×δ13C+2.23×δ15N+33.42×δ18O; F2 "Chinese" = -1978.64-104.82×δ13C-7.49×δ15N+48.25×δ18O; F3 "Vietnamese" = -2150.03-112.69×δ13C-14.01×δ15N+45.44×δ18O; F4 "Indonesian" = -2182.14-118.27×δ13C-10.14×δ15N+40.47×δ18O.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to identify four types of cinnamon with a significant reduction in the duration of the assay with 95 % confidence level.
