SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a gas diffusion system and a method for feeding a gas stream, in particular a passivating gas stream, into an apparatus, in particular a decomposer, of a urea plant. Decomposer comprises a lower container which is a lower part of the housing of the apparatus and defines a chamber, a gas feed conduit entering into the chamber and having an outlet opening, and a diffuser assembly that diffuses the gas coming from the conduit inside the chamber. Container comprises a lower accumulator closed at the lower end by a bottom wall and having a substantially cylindrical sidewall, and an upper funnel-shaped diffusion portion, generally diverging upwardly tapering toward the accumulator and bounded by a truncated conical sidewall. Conduit extends inside the chamber from the inlet opening formed in the sidewall of the accumulator, terminates at the outlet opening, and comprises a main conduit extending substantially perpendicular to the sidewall, and a fitting that terminates in an opening defining the outlet, which is located at the centre inside the container and chamber. Diffuser assembly is shaped to intercept the gas flow passing axially from the outlet and to deflect the gas flow.
EFFECT: invention ensures uniform distribution of the passivating gas flow and elimination or reduction of corrosion phenomena.
