SUBSTANCE: method of actuating grinder (1) includes the steps of starting a first grinding cycle with a given duration, feeding the grinder with a given amount of material, and grinding said material by rotating rotary grinding member (5) of the grinder for a period of active grinding, idly rotation of rotary grinding member (5) for a period of idle rotation following the period of active grinding to remove residual ground material from the grinder, calculation, when the given amount of material was ground, based on an operating parameter of the grinder, adaptation of the given duration of a subsequent grinding cycle based on a calculated duration of the period of active grinding of the first grinding cycle.
