FIELD: fire safety.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of fire safety and is intended for quality control of fire-fighting substances, including impregnations, coatings. Method for estimating the combustible properties of substances is presented, in which on a match splint, with fire retardant treatment applied, a section is marked, the length of which is determined by the distance from the match head to the mark fixing and visualizing the end of the section, a test substance is applied to the match, not less than within the selected section, by dipping the match splint into it to apply the test substance on the match uniformly, the match head is lighted, fixing the moment of lightning, passage time of the flame front of the selected section is measured or the burning time of the match is measured and the distance that the flame front passes before the blowout of flame, the combustible properties of the substance are estimated by the flame front spread rate.

EFFECT: it is possible to simplify the assessment (determination, investigation) of the combustible properties of substances, to provide the possibility of rapid assessment of the combustible properties of substances, to ensure the universality of the method, and also to provide the possibility of comparing the combustible properties of the test substance with the properties of the substances previously studied.
