FIELD: pyrotechnics.

SUBSTANCE: invention is related to methods and devices for producing sulphur aerosol and is used in agriculture to protect plants from harmful organisms and many pathogens of a fungal, bacterial and viral nature sensitive to sulphur, as well as in industry for emergency demercurization of objects containing both mercury vapor, and secondary sources of pollution such as drops of metallic mercury that have settled on various surfaces. A method for producing sulphur aerosol is disclosed, including the process of local initiation of combustion and its subsequent propagation in an aerosol-forming pyrotechnic composition. The pyrotechnic composition is located in a partially closed volume and consists of elemental sulphur, flame-retardant and combustion-stabilizing additives, and a pyrotechnic base from a mixture of ammonium nitrate and coal, the ratio of which in the composition is 30-70 wt.% and 7-30 wt.% respectively. The active carbon used has a certain amount of adsorption activity, as a result of which thermal energy is released, which provides heating, melting and evaporation of elemental sulphur, the vapours of which are then carried out into the atmosphere by gaseous combustion products, where they condense into an aerosol. Active carbon is used, the adsorption activity of which is estimated by the value of the total specific surface, which should be from 500 to 600 m2/g. A device for implementing a method for producing sulphur aerosol is also described.

EFFECT: increase of combustion stability of the aerosol-forming composition, improvement of safety, simplification and reduction of the cost of the manufacturing process.
