FIELD: cutting tool.
SUBSTANCE: cutting insert (22) comprises a front and rear surfaces (34, 36) and a circumferential surface (28) extending therebetween. Circumferential surface (28) includes opposite side surfaces (26) and opposite upper and lower surfaces (38, 40). Upper surface (38) and front surface (34) intersect to form major cutting edge (42), having associated flank (44) extending therefrom on the front surface. One of side surfaces (26) comprises side abutment surface (60) of the insert. Rear surface (36) includes rear abutment surface (50) of the insert. Lower surface (40) comprises lower abutment surface (52) of the insert. Rear abutment surface and lower abutment surface (50,52) of the insert form an obtuse abutment angle. In a side view along the lateral axis, a flank (44) line, the tangent to flank, intersects the lower abutment surface of the insert.
EFFECT: rotation of the insert in the holder seat is prevented.
