FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to biochemistry, in particular to a mutant sorghum plant containing in its genome at least one polynucleotide, wherein said polynucleotide encodes a polypeptide having an alanine to threonine substitution at position 93 of the sorghum AHAS protein large subunit, said plant having increased resistance to one or more imidazolinone herbicides, to its seed, as well as to a method for its preparation and a method for its identification. Also disclosed is a polynucleotide having AHAS herbicide resistance activity and an expression cassette, a cell, an expression vector containing same. Invention also relates to a method for controlling weeds in the immediate vicinity of said sorghum plant.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to efficiently obtain a sorghum plant with increased resistance to one or more imidazolinone herbicides.
