FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy and foundry production, namely to means for changing the structure of ferrous and non-ferrous metals and their alloys by means of electromagnetic fields. In the method treatment is carried out cyclically, with the metal melt under the pressure of the inert gas on the melt mirror being fed from the crucible of the furnace into the metal conduit, in which, simultaneously with the action of nanosecond electromagnetic pulses on the melt, a modification and refining the melt by blowing it with an aerosol consisting of an inert gas and a nanostructured diamond powder in a ratio of 20:1 by volume, with a flow rate of 10…18 l/min⋅cm², then the treated melt is returned to the crucible of the furnace, and the number of cycles is set based on the chemical composition of the charge and the content of nonmetallic inclusions in the melt.
EFFECT: invention allows to improve the physical and mechanical properties of metals and alloys, as well as the quality of the castings obtained from them due to effective influence on the fine structure of the melt by carrying out its processing by nanosecond electromagnetic pulses simultaneously with refining and modifying.
