FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in manufacturing of contrast agents for magnetic resonance imaging in the diagnosis of diseases. First, the endometallofullerenes of lanthanides are produced by electric arc evaporation of a lanthanide-containing graphite electrode. Then, a weakly polar aromatic solvent, o-kyl, is extracted, after which the endometallofullerenes of the lanthanides and the hollow fullerenes are separated by centrifugation and the carbon black is dried to remove the solvent. After that, endometallofullerenes of the lanthanides are extracted as a solution above the solid phase of the unreacted fullerene-containing soot with a strongly polar solvent, dimethylformamide, supplemented with 0.1–0.2 % by volume hydrazine hydrate. Resulting extract of endometallofullerenes of lanthanides is converted to a solid phase which is hydroxylated with a dilute 15–22 % aqueous solution of hydrogen peroxide until a homogeneous phase of the desired product is formed. Water-soluble hydroxylated endometallofullerenes of lanthanides are precipitated with an alcohol-containing precipitation mixture.
EFFECT: yield of the desired product is increased and the method for obtaining it is simplified.
