FIELD: recycling and disposal of waste.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the processing of germanium-containing waste optical fiber. Waste germanium-containing optical fiber is co-fired with germanium-containing coal. Resulting slag co-firing coal and optical fiber wastes is processed into germanium concentrate. Co-firing of coal and germanium-containing optical fiber waste is conducted with the maintenance of the amount of optical fiber waste not more than 10 % by weight.
EFFECT: increase in the yield of germanium in concentrate due to the involvement in the processing of a new promising type of raw materials – waste optical fiber.
