SUBSTANCE: invention relates to lighting engineering. Method of activating Ethernet-based lighting system (300) is carried out without the need for a dedicated lighting system controller and without the need to fully commission installed lighting system (300) by using network switch (200) that includes a plurality of ports for connecting the lighting devices (312A, 312B, 312C, 312D) and sensors and/or actuators (314A, 314B) of lighting system (300) with network switch (200); and by setting network switch 200 so that the signal received through first port (for example, port 4) from a plurality of ports is forwarded only to previously selected ports (for example, ports 2, 3, 5, 6 and 7) from the set of ports.

EFFECT: technical result is simplification of the lighting system and its automatic commissioning.
