FIELD: technological processes.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the hot rolling of thick sheets and can be used in the production of wide thick sheets of corrosion-resistant steels. Continuous casting is produced, the wide edges of which are polished with a continuous abrasive wheel with the abrasive wheel being fed parallel to the workpiece axis, the workpiece is heated under hot rolling and rolled on the reversing mill. Possibility of increasing the mechanical properties of the product, reducing the consumption of metal in the edge trim is ensured by the fact that during hot rolling the first two or four passes are made along the axis of the workpiece with compression ratios of 1.12 to 1.27 for each pass, then the workpiece is rotated 90 degrees in a horizontal plane and rolling is perpendicular to the axis of the workpiece in several passes to obtain a given width of the sheet, at least four of which are produced with a reduction ratio of 1.12 to 1.25 at a weight average metal temperature of not lower than 1,050 °C, providing the total rolling ratio at rolling along and perpendicular to the axis of the workpiece at this temperature of not less than 2.5, after producing a given width of the sheet, it is rotated 90 degrees in a horizontal plane and rolling along the axis of the workpiece to a specified thickness with a total reduction ratio of not more than 8.0 with a single reduction ratio of not more than 1.28. After rolling, the sheet is air-cooled and heat treated, including heating to a temperature of from 1,000 to 1,080 °C, holding for 1.0 to 1.5 minutes per 1 mm of sheet thickness and subsequent cooling in air.

EFFECT: increased mechanical properties of the product, reduced consumption of metal in the cutting edge.
