FIELD: internal combustion engines.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in the diagnosis of fuel injectors of dual-fuel internal combustion engines (ICE). System and methods for diagnosing the variability of fuel injector parameters in a dual-fuel ICE system with multiple injectors per cylinder are proposed. In one example, a single injector of second fuel in one cylinder of the ICE is enabled while remaining cylinders are fuelled with a first fuel and a second fuel is injected via the enabled injector into the one cylinder in a predetermined sequence and fuel rail pressure drops are measured for the second fuel. Further, the measured pressure drop after each injection event is corrected for an increase in injector closing delay.
EFFECT: invention allows for more accurate adjustment of the injected fuel, which contributes to the improvement of engine performance.
