SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in fuel management systems for internal combustion engines. Proposed system and methods for calibrating a port injection nozzle of a single-fuel engine with two nozzles per cylinder, two 211 and 213 fuel rails, as well as priming pump 202 and high pressure pump 206. In one example, after increasing the pressure in both fuel rails 211 and 213 and suspending the operation of two pumps 202 and 206 simultaneously, a single cylinder is supplied with fuel by a port injection nozzle while the other cylinders are supplied with fuel through their respective direct-injection nozzles. In the fuel rail attached to the port injection nozzle, pressure drops are measured and correlated to the port injection nozzle performance.
EFFECT: invention allows the sequential control of the operation of the port injection nozzles, without affecting the operation of the engine in whole, regulate fuel injection for each cylinder individually and thereby improve fuel economy and engine toxicity.
