FIELD: internal combustion engines.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in internal combustion engines. Engine comprises thermal set composite cylinder block (202), metal cylinder liner (222) and metal spacer insert (226). Thermal set composite cylinder block (202) comprises connecting means (218) for securing the front engine cover and connecting means (220) for securing the transmission. Metal cylinder liner (222) is moulded integrally with the composite cylinder block (202). Cylinder liner (222) forms part of the boundary of cylinder (224). Metal spacer insert (226) comprises housing cover (228) of the crankcase housing and two supports vertically extending through cylinder block (202) past the portion of cylinder liner (222). Holes for securing the cylinder head in each of the supports are connected directly to the fastening devices, which extend from the cylinder head. Embodiment of the engine and a cylinder block assembly are disclosed.
EFFECT: technical result is higher strength and durability of the engine.
