Pharmaceutical composition for the treatment or prevention of an infection associated with papillomavirus or a lesion or disease associated with a papillomavirus infection, comprising a compound of general formula (I): or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, in combination with a solvent and a viscosity enhancing agent, wherein said solvent is propylene glycol and said viscosity enhancing agent is hydroxypropyl cellulose, wherein said composition has the form of a gel, and where the gel has a viscosity of 5000 to 50000 mPas. Method of preparing a pharmaceutical composition comprising steps of: i) mixing the compound of formula (I) in a portion of the solvent to form solution A, ii) mixing the viscosity enhancing agent in the remainder of the solvent to prepare solution B, and iii) mixing solutions A and B to form a pharmaceutical composition, wherein said solvent is propylene glycol and said viscosity enhancing agent is hydroxypropyl cellulose.

EFFECT: said composition is effective for the treatment or prevention of an infection associated with papillomavirus, rapidly releases the active ingredient, is stable.
