FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to plasma engineering, in particular to methods and devices with controlled plasma, and can be used to solve technical problems during the development of optical observation systems, as well as in the testing of structural and heat-protection materials. In the method for modeling a shock-compressed layer (SCL) under conditions of an arc discharge, which includes the initiation of a discharge, the formation of a plasma and the creation of pressure on the plasma, formation of plasma is carried out under conditions of a magnetically pressed discharge in a channel made in the form of a dielectric tray with open ends coated with a covering material similar to the coating material of the hypersonic object under test, and the discharge is carried out under conditions found from certain formula.
EFFECT: possibility of modeling SCL with the values of the enthalpy, pressure, and radiation of the SCL, characteristic of the SCL, emerging into the external medium.
