METHOD OF ENERGY CONVERSION IN POWER SUPPLY OF SPACECRAFT Russian patent published in 2018 - IPC B64G1/42

Abstract RU 2662320 C1

FIELD: astronautics.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to power supply systems of spacecraft (SC). Method of energy conversion in the power supply of a SC includes feeding direct electric current to the electrodes of a metal-hydrogen battery when it is charged in the oxygen-hydrogen cycle with a gas mixture of components for converting the energy of the electrochemical bonds into mechanical energy, connection to the battery electrodes a current load when it is discharged by converting in the oxygen-hydrogen cycle the mechanical energy of the said gas mixture into the energy of the electrochemical bonds, measurement of the pressure and temperature of the compressed gases of the mixture during the charging and discharge of the battery. From the measured values of pressure and temperature of the gas mixture at the end of the charge and the subsequent discharge, the ratio of the amount of oxygen to the amount of hydrogen is determined, this ratio is compared with the nominal excess factor of the oxidant. When the mechanical energy is transformed into the thermal form in the oxygen-hydrogen cycle and the condition of K0≥Kprop. produced is a full specified charge of the battery with the mechanical energy of the mixture, and then converted is the mechanical energy into the thermal form of energy in the oxygen-hydrogen cycle.

EFFECT: technical result of the invention is to increase the SC power resource.
