FIELD: electricity.
SUBSTANCE: offered invention relates to electric engineering and can be used at operating nickel-hydrogen accumulator batteries in independent power supply systems of space vehicles operated in a low Earth orbit. The suggested method to operate nickel-hydrogen accumulator batteries in a power supply system of a space vehicle operated in the low Earth orbit lies in cycling of the accumulator battery in a charge-discharge mode set by on-board automatics of the power supply system, the degree of the accumulator batteries charge is limited against pressure sensors placed inside some cells of the accumulator batteries at the level of 60-80% of the full capacity; parameters are controlled for each accumulator battery, for example, current capacitance, voltage, temperature. The assigned task is set by a periodical, at least once a day, limitation of the charge degree for the accumulator batteries against the pressure sensors placed inside some cells of the accumulator battery at the level of 90-95% of the full capacity, at that the charge degree of 90-95% is selected with the consideration of a mean turn temperature of the accumulator battery.
EFFECT: increased reliability and durability of the space vehicle.
