FIELD: measurement; testing.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to a method for detecting ice formation on an aircraft and an ice detector. To detect ice formation, an ice detector is placed on the outer surface of the aircraft, a charge is generated on the surface of a layer of pyroelectric material of the detector. Ice detector comprises a sensitive surface with a layer of pyroelectric material placed thereon, at the charge of which the freezing point of water is higher than at a surface without pyroelectric material.
EFFECT: higher reliability of ice detection in a wide range of atmospheric conditions.
