FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to thoracic surgery and may be applicable to thymectomy when the organs of the mediastinum are displaced. For 1 to 5 intercostal spaces, a flap is formed from the large and small pectoral muscles along with the breast tissue. Anterior segments of cartilaginous fragments of 2, 3, 4 ribs are exposed. Peel the perichondrium on the front surface of the cartilaginous segments of the ribs for 5 cm along the lateral and posterior semicircle. Cross and remove the cartilaginous parts of 2, 3, 4 ribs in the area free from the perichondrium. Intersect fragments of the perichondrium at a distance of 1 cm lateral to the edge of the sternum. Remove the crossed parts along with intercostal muscles from the outside and perform thymectomy. Operation is completed by layer wound suturing with restoring the integrity of the crossed perichondrium, draining the anterior mediastinum.
EFFECT: method ensures adequate visualization of displaced mediastinal structures.
