FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to machine building, in particular to engine building. Essence of the invention lies in the fact that in an internal combustion engine consisting of block of cylinders, pistons, rod, connecting rod, crankshaft crankcase, system for preparing and feeding a fuel mixture, suction and exhaust valves, start-up systems, cooling systems and lubrication systems, and the pistons are double-acting. In the upper part of the pistons, processes of the working stroke and exhaust of end gases are performed, and in their lower part, suction and compression of air are performed. According to the invention, the air is preheated in the regenerator from the heat of the end gases before being fed into the engine cylinders. And the air, compressed in the lower part of one of the cylinders, is passed through the regenerator to the top of the other cylinder, and the end gases from each cylinder are fed to the regenerator. Also, for additional heating, the gas is reversed by withdrawing part of the end gases from the cylinder during expansion and feeding them through the reverse valve to the regenerator.
EFFECT: significant increase in the efficiency of the engine due to the application of heat regeneration and gas reversal; significant reduction in the mass and dimensions of the engine due to the performance of the working stroke in each cylinder for one rotation of the crankshaft.
