FIELD: decorative and applied arts.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of arts and crafts. Tableware is a container that has a bottom and a body away from it, while at least on part of its height the body is covered with a birch bark cover, while the birch bark cover is a completed bend strip with the front side, which is the inner surface of the birch bark, at one end of which there is at least one cut-out extending from the edge of the strip and along the length of the strip with a symmetrical extension from the edge of the strip towards the bottom, and at the other end of which there is at least one protuberance protruding along this strip with transversely and symmetrically extending tabs for receiving the protrusion above the notch in its narrow zone and its end portion with tabs under the strip in the expanded cutout zone. Method of making utensils, which is a container having a bottom and a body away from it, consists in determining the circumference of the body of the vessel and cutting out a strip of birch bark with a length longer than the length of the circumference of the body, then this strip of bark is stratified until a strip of inner layer of birch bark is obtained, 1–1.5 mm thick, or the bark cortex is stratified until an inner layer of birch bark is obtained having a thickness of 1–1.5 mm and a strip with a length longer than the circumference of the body, and with the help of the punching die, made according to the pattern, the elements of the lock joint are cut at the end sections of the birch bark strips, which at one end are at least one cutout extending from the edge of the strip and along the length of the strip with a symmetrical extension from the edge of the strip towards the bottom, and at the other end – at least one elongated projection along this strip with transversely and symmetrically extending tabs from it, and then wrap a strip of birch bark around the body and join together the elements of the locking joint by placing the said protrusion above the notch in its narrow zone and its end part with tabs under the birch bark in the widened zone of the cutout.
EFFECT: simplified construction along with maintaining bactericidal and antifungal properties of the birch bark.
