FIELD: biochemistry.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to biochemistry. Method and apparatus for utilization of CO and/or CO2 containing gases. Method includes providing a gas stream based on CO and/or CO2 gas, converting a portion of the gas stream into electrical energy and/or converting a portion of the gas stream into an organic substance containing from 3 to 26 carbon atoms in a biotechnological fermentation process using acetogenic bacteria. Apparatus comprises a gas source for continuously supplying CO and/or CO2 gas stream, an energy generation device, a fermenter, and means for selectively feeding a gas stream from a gas source to a power generation plant and/or a fermenter.
EFFECT: inventions ensure the accumulation of excess energy before it is converted into electricity.
