FIELD: organic chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method for extracting an aliphatic alcohol containing from 5 to 16 carbon atoms from an aqueous medium. The proposed method includes the following stages: (a) bringing an aliphatic alcohol in an aqueous medium into contact with at least one extractant comprising at least one trialkylphosphine oxide and at least one alkane, where the alkane contains from 12 to 18 carbon atoms, over time sufficient to extract the aliphatic alcohol from the aqueous medium into the extractant, (b) separating the extractant with the extracted aliphatic alcohol from the aqueous medium. In this case, the aqueous medium is a fermentation medium in which an aliphatic alcohol is obtained from a carbon source by bringing the carbon source into contact with at least one microorganism capable of converting the carbon source into an aliphatic alcohol. Moreover, the fermentation medium is recycled, and the fermentation medium includes water.
EFFECT: development of an effective method of extraction of aliphatic alcohols, which can be used in conjunction with a biotechnological method for obtaining these alcohols.
