SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, cardiology and can be used in the diagnosis of acquired heart mitral valve diseases. For the purpose of determining the type of pathological remodeling of the left chambers of the heart with the acquired diseases of the mitral valve, an index of volume remodeling (IVR) of the left chambers of the heart is performed in adult patients. Heart is scanned from the apical access in the four-chamber position to the diastolic phase, the end diastolic volume of the left ventricle is V_sp by Simpson's method and measure the planimetric area - S of the left atrium by tracing the inner contour of the cavity. Additionally, the transverse dimension of the left atrium is measured (L_l) between the atrial septum and its free wall at the level of the middle third of the cavity. Parameters V_sp, S and L_l measured on one stop-frame of one cardiac cycle, and the IRI is calculated according to the formula IVR = V_sp/SxL_l.

EFFECT: method allows to shorten the examination time while simultaneously increasing the accuracy of the determination of IVR in the acquired mitral valve diseases in adult patients.
