SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to a method and system for determining the current location of a target. In the automated process, a local positioning system is used to obtain location data (i.e. position and orientation) for one or more mobile targets. In those cases where target objects are able to move under the control of a computer, this automated process can use the measured position data to control the position and orientation of such targets. Said system provides advantages from measurement and image capture capability for the local positioning system and combines controlled marker lights, image processing, and coordinate transformation calculation to provide tracking information for controlling the location of vehicles.

EFFECT: ability to track the position and orientation of objects in the reference coordinate system.
